Guide for an easy back to dance class

As summer comes to an end and the new season approaches, excitement and anticipation begins! Returning to dance class can be both exciting and scary for dance mums and dance students alike. To make the return as smooth as possible we’ve put together a guide to ease you or your dancer back to dance class!

Plan Ahead

Preparation is key! Ensure your dancewear including leotards, shoes and tights, still fit and are in a good condition to return. Check out your back-to-class dancewear checklist if you’re unsure what you need. Check your class schedule and note down important dates, such as registration or upcoming shows.

Organise Your Dance Bag

An organised dance bag = a stress-free first day! Start with a spacious dance bag with lots of compartments to keep your essentials tidy. Include essentials like dance tights, hair accessories, snacks and your water bottle. Have a designated spot for each item so it’s easy to find in class. Top tip: pack your bag the night before to save time and stress in the morning.

Create A Routine

Set out a routine or schedule for your week to keep on track and organised. A good balance of meals, homework and rest time around class will help you feel relaxed and focused on your dance goals

Stay Positive

Returning to class after a break can be challenging and tiring. Remind yourself that it can take time to adjust back into dance after a long break. Prioritise your self care, for students this will be balancing dance with relaxation and having fun with your friends. For mums, taking time for yourself is just as important, whether it’s enjoying a cup of tea or taking up a hobby (maybe adult dance class!) this will help you recharge and keep positive!
